Anne
attended a friend’s birthday party on a tennis court at age nine and was
hooked. She worked her way up through the Junior level and became a three-time
All-American, MVP at the University of Texas, and ranked #1 in NCAA singles.
After
college, Anne turned pro and was ranked in the Top 100 in the World, competing
at Wimbledon, The French Open, The Australian Open and the U.S. Open. Playing
at International tournaments in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, New Zealand,
Australia, Germany, Italy, France, England, Luxemburg, Belgium, Spain,
Portugal, South Africa, and Brazil provided the opportunity to see the World
and build lifetime friendships.
The most fun
she had playing major tournaments was having a set point against Martina
Navratilova in the quarterfinals of the Canadian Open, and then losing and
becoming friends with her after the match. Anne feels the best things about
tennis are the camaraderie and connections you make along with the humility you
learn from tough losses and the independence accrued from striving towards
personal goals.
